There has been a change of rules for our 5 a side netball league at Mudeford Wood community centre on Sunday evenings. As you all know, netball is primarily 7 a side, but we currently run our league as 5 a side to make it easier to create a team. This being said, the loss of 2 players per team leaves a big space on the court that either requires running into to fill or throwing the ball further to fill, which tactically was far too beneficial for certain teams. After an experiment last night, we believe we have taken a massive step in semi solving this, as we now allow the GK and GD to have the same privileges on the court in where they are allowed to go, the same applies to GS and GA. Feedback was positive from our "trial night", but we understand it will take a couple of weeks to adjust to!
TEAM OF THE WEEK!
It has to go to Desperate Housewives this week. Their opponents last night where their toughest rivals, a game that could be won by either team and are very competitively matched. The game itself was an expected, very highly contested, fast paced and very end to end, but Desperate Housewives really had the edge with their shooting tonight, which had them scoring from just about anywhere in the "D", they just didn't miss. Everyone watching was very impressed, I even saw the opposition team applaud at times. Excellent performance from these girls, really heading in a good direction!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARDS!
Sarah Suddrey - Winging it - Sarah always puts in a very impressive shift for her team and last night was no different, she was EVERYWHERE and made it impossible for the umpire not to be impressed, what a performance she put in last night!
Clare Green - JalapeƱo Hotties - Clare has really cemented herself as the teams goal scorer. She Is always very clinical and once under that net with the ball in her hands, the inevitable nearly always happens! Players will probably start walking back to the centre for the restart before she's even shot before long!
Ketrina Davis - Muddy Balls - Ketrina played her first game at the league last night and turned up very nervous not knowing what to expect. After just one game you could see her confident explode and really get into it. The umpire was very impressed with how much she improved throughout the game and settled in so fast. Picking up POTM on her first game...she could be a vital player for this team!
